Description
Blue Faced Leicester Aran by Debbie Bliss – Debbie Bliss shares her inspiration for this collection of yarn and patterns in the introduction to her book:
“I believe that there are few yarns more desirable to work with than pure wool. I see it as a real knitters yarn, easy to work with, it bounces off the needles to make the perfect fabric.
Now more and more knitters want to combine their love of the fiber with the knowledge of its provenance, hence the interest in heritage yarns which are breed specific. I am delighted then to introduce to my ranges an aran weight yarn made from the beautiful fleece produced by the Blue Faced Leicester sheep. Known as the cashmere of wool, it is recognized for its fantastic drape, softness against the skin and silky luster.
Blue Faced Leicester Aran is launched in sixteen shades that range from classic grey and stone to vivid brights such as ruby and bright orange. There are thirteen styles in this collection and I have concentrated on texture as the fiber gives such clarity to the knitted stitch.
My Blue Faced Leicester Aran carries the Woolmark, and will be the first to carry the British Wool Marketing Board Logo which can only be used on products that are licensed by the British Wool Marketing Board so it is an indication of the quality of this beautiful yarn.”
